For my radio advert i used youtube as a research source.
This helped me gain an insight to radio adverts although hearing them on the radio daily it was good to analyse them and compare the different conventions that where used, such as including the brand name up to about 4 times within the advert as well as having two different voices in they advert.
A challenge of this ancillary task was that creating a newspaper wouldn't normally be advertised through a radio. When researching adverts through youtube it was hard to compare apart from having previous A2 coursework adverts.

using the different conventions of all these adverts although some not all advertising a newspaper, the advertising process helped when it came to recording my own.

for my front cover and billboard poster i wanted to link the big prize draw together by this featuring as my main aspects for this issue of the 'Bristol Gazette'
Also for my billboard poster i wanted the mast head to feature on it for recognition. As well as a good way to market my newspaper .

with these two aspects in relation to both parts to my final coursework piece i feel they could be established well when no knowing they are marketed as the same newspaper product.

From my previous blog post about my audience feedback i had made previously a new updated audience feedback questionnaire this was due to asking people about my previous questionnaire they felt it needed more information to be given for a reader or for its primary research.
Therefor i had taken this into account and had made another questionnaire.

This was the questionare i either sent or handed to a broad age range of 18-65, although a large age range it was interesting to see the results of mid 40s, agreeing to lower the barriers to gain an interest of young adults to be educated in news around them rather than only flicking through on the TV channel.

from this i found that the majority off 57-68 Year olds would not use the internet to also be updated on news. this was said to be that they enjoyed the real copy. This i found was understandable as it known for the older generations not to like change as well as that's what they are used to.
Also finding from feedback that the way to appeal to my audience of a younger age would be to change the content such as the story's/articles written to also attract older teenagers to young adults. Examples where given such as high street store advertisements and prizes or news about what the young adult is interested in. ( such as a chance to win money
for my 3rd question i got a range of different feedback which enabled me to go either way with this research. There was an overall mix review that both young and old audiences take an interest in national papers and local.

Billboard research and planning:

research for my billboard poster consisted of going out and noticing walking around city centers the use of them whether they are up against a building wall or they will be by a bus stop rotating in a covered shelter. However with those I found they where more so advertisements for food and films there for with this in mind I didn't feel a newspaper would settle by a bus stop.
A challenge to this ancillary task was that newspaper billboards don't actually exist. By analyzing other billboards in Bristol which I found where all very simple yet creative, just like this Bristol Zoo one. ' what will you see next time' making out that there is always something new at the Zoo but also messing around with the idea that it may be a bird/lion. this is an iconic feature of the zoo as on there billboard advertisements they tend to use blends of animals ( which are not obviously true) but for children it gets them excited and can pull customers in.
Also the content you will see on these billboards is that it is able to be advertised for a while such as a business will offer a new car, that car isn't going to change within a month there for that's a suitable billboard advertisement.

Advertising a complete different business concept, but still very simple with the iconic well established company logo smack in the middle. Its also very eye catch for drivers and pedestrians, the conventions of this hold bold text placed in the top middle or bottom of the billboard. As well as having a bright bold picture to primarily explain the company in whole, a holiday which is appealing to most of the general public weather it be cold or sunny. Not only is it about the conventions of the billboards and how to do it right especially not containing to many words as this doesn't seem appealing for the human eye at a quick glance.   Its also about the content on the billboard such as what the product actually is. It needs to be in high demand of the public such as tourist attraction and holidays as well as company brands and can be great for new shops/restaurants advertising in a big city.

The synergy of this all coming together creates an effective final product. It allows you to connect with your audience when they step out there home, office or car. It also leaves a long impression to your target audience. The strong idea of it being a 24 hour advertisement also allows a lot of competition. They are used to encourage visits to local stores or places that could be of interest.

'Discover more' is advertising Bristol Uni, using an iconic feature again of a well established tourist destination in Bristol the 'suspension bridge'. This helped me with my final piece of ancillary task to make sure it was to full on. This is very low key but describes it all in its self. Simple in some ways can be better for a billboard as its such a big display in alone, by the time you've designed want you want on it plus text it can be very heavy on the eye, which i suppose can be seen as good and bad. I also feel its very dependant on what you are advertising and how willing you are going to go with creativity. Such as Bristol zoo and Virgin more so have gone for the creative side using an original idea from Bristol zoo which will make it memorable for your target audience. Virgin have also been clever with there billboard whilst advertising this in the UK where the weather and scenery isn't as nice as what is in the billboard making there target audience wishing for a holiday when in fact they can book one .
Bristol university however is a more serious topic of study and graduation this I feel maybe the reason for the bland details yet the key feature of it being the suspension bridge which when looking at it people from the area or visiting would know this.
