These are the normal conventional parts of the newspaper you'll see on the bristol post such as , photos and headlines and the master head is made very clear . it also both features a strap line which is situated above the headline this gives a bit more information that the headline wouldn't.

From looking at the different examples of national and local papers there comes an order with the layout of the front page it can go from
master head to   or master head  to picture to headline and competitions can be found on top of the
Head line

Focus on Local papers:
the evening post which is now called the "bristol post" it deals with the news in bristol containing stories from the whole of greater bristol, northern somerset. they also have a home delivery service which can make it easier for the readers.  The website of the bristol evening post offers a facility on their website where you can search for local jobs quick and easy.
the Top paper is seen as a more conventional paper where below would be seen as un conventional due to the big statement of the master head.

This is an old version of what the bristol post is today showing it bold almost old fashioned font of a master head. The main image represented near enough in the middle of the newspaper showing the key headline for that dates issue. Also they have now introduced the advertisements on top of the master head for local business's in the area which could be offering one of deals on lunch menus and sport events.

comparing this to the new edition of the bristol post, Where the fonts are modernised the master head is also more specific in its region of information where before the evening post didn't specify. Behind the master head there are women and men which could have a connection to bristol and the newspaper which is helping to connect with its audience.
Theres approxamitly 10 staff writes and it was founded in 1932. It specialises in tabloid journalism this includes emphasised story lines in crime, astrology, gossip accounts also about the personal lives of celebrities and sport stars.

Research for my newspaper:
1.what are the conventional features of a local newspaper front cover ?
title,date,location,advertisement,headings,pictures,eye catching story.

2.who are the different audiences ?
local people from the region of the issued newspaper. Newspapers try and target certain audiences through the linguistics and topic of stories. Factors effecting the different audience type consist of, representation, values, politics, institution, genre and narrative. Also they'll be different target audiences for national and local papers. Such as adults which are news enthusiasts.

3. why do they read local press?
adults are local news enthusiasts, you usually find adults more so read newspaper because of the content which can relate to there interests better than young adults. People will also read local press to stay informed of local news such as a new restaurant coming to the local area. Also advertisement can be useful to the reader for local deals and new business's.

4. which groups are typically portrayed in local papers?
Young people are portrayed badly or proudly you don't see an in-between in the story lines of the younger generation. Theres also sometimes racial profiling and business men and woman. They also show a family with a story line which perhaps can relate to parents which are the readers of that newspaper.

5.what are the differences between local and national newspapers?
National- Has an over view form everywhere where local newspapers usually effect everyone reading and concern the local people where it effects them not reading something national where half the content isn't relevant. National also tends to include  and people who are higher up in status . However it can also attract a wider demographic than local due to the limitation in stories which are local.

In my newspaper it'll include the front cover, first inside page and a radio advert for your newspaper.

Digital technology comes into this due to the software we used to create the finish product. The software i used in my AS coursework will be the same in my A2 coursework. They  where photo shop,Indesign and Imovie.

Similarities in newspaper front covers include :
-editors
-catchy headlines
-subheadings
-variation of pictures
- Bold Simple fonts
- Title on the top of the cover
-main picture normaly placed on the right
-date of issue
- main heading usually relates to the main picture.

the bold title 'big firms let of 25bn in taxes' is very eye catching as soon as you look at it. This will intise your reader to then look at other content on the front cover. the slim picture of kate kept to the right hand side  which keeps a clear structure for the front cover which a newspaper needs for all the information it holds.  The bold pink heading relating women to make it a feminist title with the page detail below as where you can read on .

Again the picture is situated in the right hand side, With a main eye catching headline and a story to read  underneath. A selection of pictures are used almost to give a debrief on what type of headlines this paper includes as its a national paper it will have story form everywhere. Having 5 columns on the bottom of the paper again sets a structure to sub heading and story that are going to be included through the paper

This is a national newspaper again having the same layout with there key focus story line someone very well known and a headline to interest. They have layed it on like this for audience recognition and for a  key headline to appear like this you expect your audience to have an interest to purchase. Also including real life stories which maybe more realistic to readers rather than celebrity stories but everyone loves some celeb gossip. including the price and the date of issue underneath the name 'the sun'.

These newspapers are national which tend to include more celebrity stories, advertisements which are based more nationaly rather than local business's. This differs from a local paper well it will have very near by village stories and stuff that can affect the people of the town/village. Rather than being national half the content couldnt be of interest to the reader. The headline ' blood pressure risk from salt' this can affect everyone not just a specified audience.
